Focus Makes the Difference

When you are feeling overwhelmed, as we all often do, take a good hard look at your actions.  Are you trying to multi-task?  Are you doing a million different things at once?  [pullquote]Focus = Clarity + Concentration + Action that converge to create a specific result in the present[/pullquote]Do you feel a whole bunch of pressure to get a host of things done, so you’re working on everything simultaneously?

How well is that method working for you?

Well, for me, it’s caused really nothing but frustration.  So, after listening to a FANTASTIC speech by former Navy Seal, Richard Machowicz “Mack”, I got it together.  First, I attempted to listen while I was doing other stuff.  Then I heard him say to focus on one thing at a time and get it done right.  Be in the moment and give your FULL CONCENTRATION on the task at hand.

Yes, I stopped what I was doing and paid strict attention.

Mack says:

Focus = Clarity + Concentration + Action that converge to create a specific result in the present.

Learn to stay in the present.  The past is a memory and the future is only imagination.  Figure out what your distractions are and learn to let them go for a moment or two so that you can focus on the important task in front of you.  [pullquote]learn to be connected to the present[/pullquote]When you learn to be connected to the present (and not thinking about the past or the future), you can fully concentrate on what is important NOW.

Get it done.  Get it done and then you can move on to the next thing and get that done.  Instead of having all kinds of half-accomplished tasks weighing you down, FINISH something and then focus on the next task.  You will have a sense of accomplishment and be able to check something off of your list.  Put that task behind you.

Learn to focus.  It makes all the difference.
